Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
Relationships and sex education is learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, relationships, sex and human sexuality.
Istead Rise uses a scheme of work called ‘Jigsaw’ which is a comprehensive programme of PSHE (including RSE) which provides accurate information about the body, puberty and reproduction. It also gives children and young people essential skills for building positive, respectful and non-exploitative relationships and staying safe both on and offline.
Safeguarding our pupils is of paramount importance to us and we believe it is important that children are provided with age-appropriate information to assist them in making sensible choices and developing respect for themselves and others as they progress through the school and later life.
The attached information below is designed to provide parents with an understanding of what your child will be learning and also answers questions on exactly what content children of different age ranges will be taught.
