Forest School
Pupils of Istead Rise enjoy going into the Forest. Forest School is a long term holistic learning environment that aims to raise the self-awareness and self-esteem in participants.
With regular sessions in a woodland environment pupils have the opportunity to take manageable risks by undertaking small achievable tasks. Pupils are encouraged to make choices and follow their own learning. Hands on learning experiences include den building, tree climbing, mud slides, swings, whittling and fires.
Pupils learn about bugs and mini beasts with the opportunity to build bug hotels. Resilience to the outdoors is built up by attending Forest School sessions in all weathers.
